REUNION

TRHS class of 1974 gathers in Kent

Dinner/dance, golf outing attracts many to reunion

Classmates from the class of 1974 of Theodore Roosevelt High School in Kent gathered to enjoy a weekend-long slate of reunion events July 23 through 25 in celebration of their 25-year reunion.

Friday evening found about 100 class members catching up with friends upstairs at Ray's Place in Kent, where they were also joined by friends from other classes.

Several classmates enjoyed a round of golf Saturday morning before meeting at the Main Street Tavern for lunch. Later, about 25 toured Roosevelt.

A highlight of the weekend was a dinner/dance Saturday evening at the Rusty Nail Restaurant in Twin Lakes.

Guests enjoyed a social hour offering the opportunity to leaf through scrapbooks filled with memories of past reunions.

A beautiful lighted memorial was on display, featuring the names of deceased classmates and faculty members.

Jay Moore served as master of ceremonies, welcoming everyone to the reunion before the dinner was served.

Classmates were given class booklets containing current information about all '74 graduates.

T-shirts displaying the Roosevelt logo and 25-year reunion information were offered for sale or given as raffle prizes. A class photo was also taken.

Music for dancing was provided by a disc jockey.

Sunday breakfast was enjoyed at The Country Kitchen followed that afternoon with a picnic at Twin Lakes Beach, attended by 45 classmates.

And after all was said and done, it was heartening to learn that some classmates' toilet papering skills had not gotten rusty in 25 years.

The committee responsible for the successful event was comprised of Laura Steinert Cheges, chairman; Kay Alexander Dennis; Tara Ludick Jackson; Rick Moekle; Moore; Becky,Roberts; Vickie Tackett Wyatt and Robin Turner.
