Here is what people are saying about the reunion from those that did not
attend
"Sorry
I can’t share in the fun – but I will be thinking of all of you. "
 Best,
Sue Swanger
"Wish I could be there with y'all.  Have fun."
	  Margie (Hart) Coger, Boone, NC

	"Well, once again I’ve
not been able to join our RHS Class of ’74 reunion- -the last time I
attended was in 1994!  I must admit that I harbored hopes of flying in to
Ohio even just for the weekend, but no such luck.
	I’m genuinely disappointed."

	 I hope that everyone has
a great time- -please be sure to give
my very best regards to all.

	 George Urban

"Sorry I was unable to attend but
would love to hear how it went and who was there. Take lots of
pictures and post them on the website. Tell everyone Hello for me
and I will try my hardest to be at the 40th. Thanks for all your
work and effort in planning the reunions."

Welcome to the reunion weekend - Hope everyone enjoys the reunion !!!!!
Roosevelt High School Class of 1974 35th Reunion Events
Today
Friday, July 31st
Join us at the Venice Café,
corner of Erie and Franklin, for an informal gathering. We will start gathering
around 6ish, come when you can.

 Saturday, August 1st
The Roosevelt High School Class
of 1974 35th Reunion will begin at 6 pm, with CASH bar and appetizers
available. Dinner is scheduled to begin at approximately 7:30.  ‘Picnic’ food
will served buffet style with dessert available after dinner. For those of you
that are local, the Helmings also own the bar/restaurant “Diggers”, in Kent. You
know the food will be delicious and plentiful.
Throughout the evening, we will
have corn hole, horse shoes and poker available.
The karaoke machine will be warmed up and
ready to go.
            We will also have
----
a variety of card games, such
as Uno or euchre, available. We will be kicking our heels up to the tunes of the
70’s or relaxing by the pool. Get into the mood, listen to WMJI (105.7 FM if you
are in the area or
www.wmji.com if you are out of town), start practicing the words to your
favorite songs. There will be door prizes and a 50/50 raffle.
As we will be outside, expect
mosquitoes.  The area will be ‘fogged’ several times prior to the reunion. We
will have citronella candles and bug wipes/spray for you to use. I am sure that
we will still be partying long after the mosquitoes have gone to bed!!
The committee appreciates the
current economic situation and fully understands there will be those that will
not be able to attend because of finances. Please remember that the $22 covers
more then just the food and the use of the facility. Compared to other class’
reunions ($40/person for example), we hope that it will still be a manageable
cost. Remember, name tags, balloons, signs, pictures, envelopes, stamps and
copies all must be paid for, out of the funds.
If you have any questions, do
not hesitate to contact Kay, Tara, Rick, Judy or Jay.
See you soon!

		Hello Everyone,

Time is short ... It is time to send in your reservations for our class
		reunion.

		1) Go to our web site--
		Class of 74 (
you can click on it here) and fill out the
		35th ReunionBook
Questionnaire ( you can click on it here). Even if you are not
planning on attending, let us know what you are up to and how things are
going  AND upload some pictures of you and your family. We will use this
information to create the reunion book. SO FAR  only Tom and Cathy have
done this (Thanks !!!!) . It only takes a couple of minutes to fill out
the info. So please get to it :-)

		2) If you are planning on attending SEND US YOUR RESERVATION ASAP.  It
gives the committee time to prepare and plan.
(AS a side note the current reunion committee has worked very hard
to make this a success. From my perspective... and I have worked on the
reunion committee       for almost 30 years and I can tell you that
everyone on this and past reunion committee's puts in a lot of hours to
		make these work)

		Thanks for your time..

			March 29, 2009
Bret Orsburn, 52, of Kent, died peacefully surrounded by his
family, March 29th after a short illness.
He is survived by his wife, Heidi Shaffer; adult stepson, Conor

biking and camping, and hosting dinner parties with his wife and

also worked toward a master's degree. He was a member of Phi Beta
Kappa, Amnesty International, the Unitarian Universalist Service
Committee, Union of Concerned Scientists and the Progressive Media

Bissler and Son's Funeral Home at 628 W. Main St. in Kent. A

April 4 at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Kent, 229 Gougler
Ave. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Minister's
Discretionary Fund at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Kent.

You know you're from Kent, when...

-You are offended if someone asks if you're from
			Ravenna

-You skipped a class to go to Swenson's

-FU Bob is a family friend

-by "the beach", you mean a tiny man made patch of
			sand on Twin Lakes

-You know the Kent State campus better than most of
			the college students

-popcorn coming in 32 flavors is normal

-seeing a black squirrel is an everyday occurrence

-winning an athletic event is a rarity, and the fact
that the Rider football team was 10-0 makes you want
			to learn how to play

-whenever you tell a non-Kentite you're from Kent, the
first thing that crosses their mind is May 4.

-you'd rather drive through downtown Akron than
			through any part of Ravenna

-there is nothing to do downtown unless you're at
			least 18

-there are more tattoo/piercing parlors and bars
			downtown than actual shops

-you will never go more than a month into the summer
without seeing 3/4 of your school's population because
the entire town goes to Kent Fest.

-you won't drink water from the tap outside of the
city limits because you know Kent has the best water
			on the planet

-you are referred to as a "townie" on campus

-someone asks you where the rec center is and you
direct them to the one on Franklin Ave. because what
they're really thinking of (on the KSU campus) is more
commonly known as the wellness center

-you mourned the loss of the Loft

			-you have visited 'the tower'

-you know where half of your teachers live

			-ravens are for burning

-you're on a first-name basis with your high school
			principal

-you are praying for the day that Steak n Shake is
			actually in Kent

			-Brimtucky is a real place

-Katie's Korner does not involve prostitution, only
			ice cream

-Guido's does not just deal pizza...

-It snows a foot overnight and you don't even bother
to check the school closings because 'Kent City
Schools' will never be on the list

-In elementary school, you wanted to live in River
Bend. In middle school, you wanted to TP River Bend.
In high school, you wanted to party in River Bend.

-prom is still held in your high school gym

-You make fun of the people who are still obsessed
with Roosevelt. And yet you still go to see POPs every
			year.

-You have attended either a Sweetheart, Farsight,
			Annabel, or Starcrossed show.

-You remember when Starbucks used to be Brady's Cafe

-You can quote graffiti under the bridge at River
			Front Park

-you can't walk from one side of Kent's campus to the
other without knowing somebody, be it a student, a
teacher, a staff worker, or some random "townie".

-you go downtown on Sunday nights for the anti-war
protest...and everyone there looks ripped straight out
			of 1969.

-you look in the mirror and say "wow I am awesome."
			(because Kent kids are awesome)

-it can be 70 degrees and sunny one day, then 30 and
snowing the next and you don't think anything of it

			- you know what "Moon Glo" is and no it's nothing like
			"Moon Shine"

-90% of your senior class went to Kent State

			- when you went inside Sheetz for the first time, you
			almost peed yourself with excitement

-you know exactly what an "awky awky turtle" is, does,
and how it works ((and use it regularly))

-you get excited for the summer because all of the
college kids go home and there is no longer a 45
minute wait to get into Chipotle

-you wait 45 minutes for Chipotle anyway

-you remember being forced to go to swim lessons after
			school in elementary school

-waiting for the library to be built was a big deal,
but going to Mrs. B.'s story times was even bigger as
			a youngster

-you see George riding down the sidewalk downtown and
you stop and talk to him for over thirty minutes
because he's become a close friend over the years

-walking downtown Kent on the Halloween and the people
don't surprise you, because your parents made you
			immune as a little kid.

-you think of going on a shopping spree, the first
place to cross you mind is Gabes

-if you're thinking about eating healthier you just
incorporate more PULP in your diet

-there are more tanning salons than grocery stores

			- your stock broker sold you marijuana in 1975
